The Kerala State Film Awards is a film award for films made in Kerala. The award has been awarded by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy since 1998 on behalf of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Government of Kerala India.
The awards began in 1969. From 1969 to 1997, the awards were administered directly by the Ministry of Culture, The Government of Kerala. The winner is determined by an independent jury built by the college as well as the Ministry of Culture, the Government of Kerala Juri generally consists of prominent figures from the field of film. For literary awards in cinema, a separate jury is built. The Academy annually invites films to awards and judges analyze films submitted before deciding on award winners aimed at promoting films of artistic value and urging artists, technicians and producers. The award was announced by the Minister of Culture and presented by the Chief Minister of Kerala.
